Dodge backs out of NASCAR 10/4//2012

No Dodge in 2013 NASCAR!!


Tuseday October 2nd.

Theres soon to be be one less AMAERICAN auto maker in NASCAR. In what could be the first problem of the stock car league's recently declining revenue, the automaker will not be in the next season of NASCAR racing. Its funny because Toyota (non-American) is in NASCAR an American sport. Dodge said that it would be exiting the league. They have only won 55 Sprin Cup victories since 2001. 2012 will be the last year for Dodge in NASCAR. But when Penske Racing said that they would be partnering with Ford for 2013,Chrysler(Dodge) was left trying to find a team for the 2013 stock car showcase. With the exit of Dodge, Ford Chevrolet and somehow Toyota are left to dominate that track. Nascar saw a 38 percent decrease in ticket sales since 2005. Probably because there so dang costly. For 2013 Dodge created what took 2 years to make a Dodge Charger race car for the Sprint Cup. Because there are only 4 car automakers in Nascar and in 2012 only 3. Will NASCAR live on or will it die out? Or will it just be Totota? God I hope not. Dodge is really upset with this. But becuase the Dodge drives will soon be driving Fords, will the fans follow and trade for Fords? In my opinion they should go Chevy. Dodge says there sorry and hope to find another team in the future.

2012 NHL Lock Out


N.H.L. Lockout Begins, Exodus of Players to Europe. The last N.H.L. lockout was back in 2004 which canceled all of the games of the 2004–05 season and forced the NHL All Star Game to be played in non-Winter Olympic years. The 2012 lockout is an ongoing dispute that began at 11:59 p.m. on 15 September 2012, following the expiration of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The owners declared a lockout of the members of the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) because a new agreement could not be reached before the deadline. The lockout hurts the beginning of the 2012–2013 NHL season, which is scheduled to start on 11 October, 2012. On 19 September , 2012, the NHL canceled the scheduled preseason games through September 30. An issue for the owners is to reduce the players guaranteed share of 57% of hockey related revenues (HRR), a desire to introduce term limits on contracts, eliminate salary arbitration and change free agency rules. In my opinion the lockout is because the owners want to pay the players left and profit the rest. This will be the NHL’s third lockout in 19 years, since Gary Bettman became NHL Commissioner in 1993.
The owners identified their key issues in their first offer. Reduce the players' share of HRR from 57 percent to 46 percent. Modifications to HRR itself would actually reduce the players' share to 43 percent as defined by the expired CBA. Set a maximum term of five years on all new players' contracts. In my opinion five years is pretty good for a new player. Eliminate signing bonuses and set a uniform salary for each year of a contract, thus eliminating "front-loading" of contracts. Extend entry level contracts for players entering the league from three years to five. Extend qualification for unrestricted free agency from seven years in the league to ten. Many N.H.L. players were mad at the changes. The N.H.L. officially locked its players out when the CBA expired. Several players then signed contracts to play in European leagues for the duration of the dispute.
Many of the N.H.L’s fans were pretty heated when this happened. One man said that because of the fans the N.H.L. has seasons and that the money the N.H.L. makes is all from the fans which is completely true. So far there has been no news on weather or not there will be any hockey games for the 2012-2013 regular season. Were just going to have to hang on and hope for the best.
